The process
is as follows:
- Parents
must give written consent for their child and family information to
be forwarded to the York Region Preschool Speech and Language Program.
- The referring
Speech Language Pathologist from the external preschool initiative must:
- provide
the family with a home program or suggestions to foster the development
of speech and language skills in their child,
- send
all reports and home program to the receiving program, and
- provide
the family with a contact name and phone number for the family within
the York Region Preschool Speech and Language Program.
- The family
is encouraged to call the York Region Preschool
Speech and Language Program contact while waiting for service if
they are have questions or concerns regarding the home program provided.
- The child's
name is placed on the waiting list for service through the York Region
Preschool Speech and Language Program based on the child's original
referral date to the program in which they were first referred.
- The timeliness
of service will depend on the current length of wait based on the initial
referral date.
