Volunteers in the Markham Stouffville Hospital Child Decelopment Programs support our service providers. They help with a variety of Clerical and Clinical duties. See below for more details. We have also included an explanation of the Management Process we follow with our volunteers to help ensure that the experience is mutually rewarding. |

| Community Resources Department | |
| Service Title: | Child Development Program Volunteer |
| Hours: | Approximately 2-3 hours per week. |
| Responsible To: | Speech-Language Pathologists or Communicative Disorder Assistants or Infant Hearing Screeners |
| Service Summary: |
The volunteer will provide support to our staff within their role. Volunteers will act as a resource to families & staff members. Within their role the volunteer will perform clerical duties, assist in therapy or screening programs, and chart information obtained. The volunteer must like children and be responsible. This individual must be neat, organized, punctual, and be able to work independently. |
| Training: | On the job training with the program professionals. |
| University Student: | Students who want a reference for their Speech Language Pathology or Audiology Masters degree are required to volunteer for a minimum of 30 hours before a reference will be done. |

* It is the
responsibility of university students requiring a reference letter as part
of their admission requirements for SLP and Audiology Masters degree programs,
to liase with a SLP to secure their required reference.
