Information For MSH CDP Volunteers & Students

The Child Development Programs offer region wide Volunteer and Student opportunities.

Volunteers & students with childrenCo-ordinated through two York Region hospitals (Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket and Markham Stouffville Hospital in Markham), volunteers and students may register with the program to work both in the hospital environment and also in our community locations.

Volunteers/students have an opportunity to assist clinicians both in treatment and with administrative and clerical duties.

Volunteers
Volunteers are welcomed whether they can offer a couple of hours a month, to a regular weekly time commitment.

  • See the Volunteer Service Description for details on the range of duties and the process you would follow to join YRPSLP as a volunteer.

  • Volunteers can apply by completing an Application Form and faxing it to the Markham Stouffville Hospital's Community Resources Co-ordinator at 905-472-7552.

Student Placements
The York Region Preschool Speech and Language Program offers a wide variety of student placements. The program endeavours to provide a rich learning experience by providing exposure to every aspect of the speech and language pathology profession. Students are provided with optimal supervision, but also with the opportunity to demonstrate autonomy and initiative within this innovative Preschool Speech and Language Program.
