Speech
Language Pathologists and Communicative Disorders Assistants provide:
- parent
education workshops
- assessment:
individual, paired or group therapy when necessary
- home programs
- transition
planning with the York Region School Boards

Who
Is This Service For?
- Children
from birth until senior kindergarten entry who have trouble talking
or understanding language
- Parents
/ guardians of preschool children
- Child
care staff, nursery school and kindergarten teachers, home child care
providers and staff of Ontario Early Years Centres

Why
Early Intervention?
The earlier
treatment begins, the more effective it is - even children under a year
can be helped.
Early intervention:
- reduces
the chance of long term social, emotional and educational problems
- prevents
problems from getting worse
- reduces
parent's anxiety
- puts parents
in touch with the correct help and support as soon as possible
